DAY 2: a miracle!
It had been a long night for the town. Jim’s senseless death weighed heavily on the citizens of Sooty. For some, however, it had been an extremely long night, one that would no doubt go down in the history books of West Virginia.
Jeff Robbabins was found in his bed that morning, pale as a ghost, with small bandages placed over most of his body. Next to his head on the pillow was a baby food jar, full of a light green fluid. On the wall next to his closet was a sword with a blue, jewel-crested handle stabbed through the middle of a King Cobra. Jeff was alive, but barely.
As Jeff retold the story, it became clear that not only was Sooty fortunate enough to have an undercover world-class doctor, the doctor appeared to be some kind of ninja and avid Animal Planet viewer. The mafia had locked Jeff alone in his room with the snake, and after being bitten multiple times, the doctor appeared (in a mask, of course). After wrestling the snake, it was stabbed several times with the ninja sword and then the doctor proceeded to suck the venom out of every hole on Jeff’s body. A miracle!
With this most recent attempt on a citizen’s life, it was time for the town to put their heads together and convict a mafia member. Who would want the newest member of the Hutchinson clan dead?

Just a question about the game to mayor JB Hair. Since the Doctor can only save someone once in the game. The mafia could potentially finish Jeff off during the next night? Or can the mafia not choose the same person twice in a row?
Unfortunately, the mafai can finish him off tomorrow if they want. The doctor can only save him once, and they can choose the same person twice to kill if they want. We can't stack the deck too much against the mafia, seeing as there are only 3 of them, and 13 other players.
I was actually quite surprised when the doctor did save Jeff, with so many players still in the game, it seems very lucky that the doctor picked the right guy. When there are fewer numbers, sure, but this early in the game was quite a surprise!
Good thing we have such a skilled doctor. I mean cobras? Wow!

I don't think it's Jay at all, he has seemed very excited about this game, but I don't think it's "mafia excited". Jeff voted for Jay last time, and for Jay to go straight for the person who voted for him, would not be a wise move. I think mafia chose Jeff to make it look like it was Jay. I think Kari is mafia, she seemed very anxious to put Jim on the chopping block. I've also got my suspicions about a couple others.
Now let's not replay what happened last time to Jim, and make sure we defend ourselves and let everyone know who they're thinking could be mafia. If you don't have your own opinion, that screams mafia! Please share your thoughts!

Whoa, whao guys-where is the hostility coming from? I would like to remind all of you thar all I did was present one possible theory and you all ran with it. I also offered up Mom (aka Shirley) as a possible. Don't blame me because you guys didn't come up with a theory. I still don't have a concrete idea about who the mafia is...but I think it could be Jason and he picked Jeff because that would be such a random choice for him that no one would suspect. And I do think that doctor is quite amazing with saving Jeff and fighting the cobra at the same time-wow! Good for you!
I figure I must defend myself. I honestly thought that I would surely die tonight because of my overeagerness in yesterday's comments. Let me tell you though, it was saturday, and I was bored. (I also drank quite a bit of Coca-Cola, so I was pretty hyper) Yeah, I regret leading the way to killing Jim, but you gotta admit, he looked suspicious. After seeing that Jim was a townie, I thought y'all would surely lynch me.
Now, as for the mafia's attempt to murder Jeff, it makes sense that they might do this to throw suspicion on me. Yes, I know I already look quite suspicious, posting like 10 comments yesterday. In fact, as I was logging on to look at the comments for the last time that night, I was thinking that it was surprising that I hadn't been accused yet. Then I log on and I've got two votes. [[chuckle]]
For those of you still think I'm mafia, I don't blame you. If I didn't know better, I'd agree. I guess I did this to myself. If you kill me tonight, maybe it wouldn't be so bad... You'd be one person closer to reaching the mafia. However, though I don't know how to say this without sounding suspicious, I really wouldn't be surprised if Jason were mafia. He seems to be hiding something with his post earlier today. Though, maybe, he's just an innocent townie that's just over-eager. I don't know. I won't cast a vote until later, after many have had their say and I can make a better judgement. I'm not sure what murdering Bill and almost murdering Jeff means, and I don't really want to think about it right now, 'cause I just got back from school, and I'm tired.
One more thing, just a couple of questions for our mayor/moderator:
Since the post described the doctor as coming into the room where Jeff was, does that necessarily mean that Jeff is not the doctor?
Does the ninja/Animal Planet fanatic thing mean anything, like if one of us actually were avid fans of Steve Irwin (RIP) or something, that might give a clue as to the identity of the doctor?
I think we're close to finding someone. Two hints, but only one person dead, thanks to the doctor. Maybe Deena is mafia because it's tough for her to keep quiet when she's around Jeff. Or maybe there's no personal biases, and the Mafia is killing at random, hoping that one of us might try to make a connection and lead a movement to get a townie, or even worse, a detective, killed, like I did. :) I don't know, so I'm gonna listen to some of your ideas about the subject before I cast judgment. However, I certainly don't want to vote for someone just because everyone else is. I'd like to make my opinion heard, but not until I have something to base it on. Expect my vote either tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Throwing my name out there, because I threw yours out there. Good mafia tactic Kari! Your reasoning to pick me is very unsubstantiated--I would not defend anyone if I was mafia, I would not want to bring that much attention to myself.
Using a King Cobra seems right up your alley for killing someone.

I'm a little confused...what are the reasons for killing me? Because I threw Jimmy's name out there? Because I threw your name out there, Jason? These are your reasons? You all seemed to agree, so that makes you just as guilty. And Jay seemed to be the biggest advocate, I meerly made a suggestion. Pretty shaky.
And I'm terrified of King Cobras, Dad had one in my closet for years staring me in the face. I wouldn't handle one, let alone know where get one. And just because I don't have a solid theory of who the mafia is doesn't make me one...it just means that I'm bad at figuring people out.

Both Jay and Jason seem to be very adamant about it not being them and trying to throw suspicion on everybody else. Also who knows Jeff well enough that they would try to kill him? Both Jay and Jason seem likely, but what about Eric? He has been very quiet...
I agree, Eric has been pretty quiet, but so has Jake. I think it's pretty random that first Bill was the victim and then Jeff. I still think that someone close to my dad is part of the mafia. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that someone close to Jeff is another part. I think it would be really funny if my mom was part of the mafia. She just isn't the type.

Thanks for picking on the quiet guys. It's not a bad strategy though, picking the ones that post least often. We do look suspicious, but then again we might just be busy with jobs and other things. If I am mafia, trust me I'm taking names, and I have a long memory. Then if I'm not mafia, leave me alone! I would hate to have innocent blood on anyone's hands. I finally had a chance to check up on the posts and I see that I am being picked on because I haven't written anything. Not all of us have the time to check the blog every five minutes. Please keep that in mind as we play this game so as not to wrongly convict those of us with responsibilities. That being said lets get down to business. I think there is a good possibility that Kari or Deena could be members of the mafia. It seems that the men that are close to them end up dying. It could be that they are trying to throw people off by killing off people that they "care" about. That also could mean that I am next in line to take the heat. Let me know what you think of my theory.

ive been doing some research as to how i might be able to spot a mafia more easily, and i found this cool page that describes the probability of the townsies winning the game. This site calls the game 'werewolf' with the same premise, except what we know as the mafia are on the page werewolves. According to this page, (though it doesn't take into account the detectives or the doctor) townsies win just 24.5% of the time. Again, though, this is based on random lynchings and no alternate roles. Just thought I'd share that...
btw, i just noticed that on some posts ive been using totally correct grammar, and on some posts ive been using instant message grammar like this... sry if that confuses anyone; i think that i do this im grammar when my comment is more casual :)

Alright I didn't want to say this, but since there is already 3 votes against me and to keep mafia from winning I feel I have to: I am a detective!
I asked about Jay and Charlie, neither of them are mafia. If you don't believe me, atleast when I am lynched my role will be revealed and you will know who I am, and atleast 2 townies not to go for. Also Hillary: Jeff can't be mafia--mafia can't kill themselves, and if they could, there is no way they would have known the doctor was going to save him.
I don't know what anyone else is, but I am very suspicious of Kari.
I realize what I am doing, and in so doing mafia will kill me off. So townies please don't kill me off so I can find out about one more person, and the doctor could save me this time so I can give you some more info, and prove myself.

Sorry for not posting yet, I just hadn't taken the time to read through the comments until now.
Jason claiming he's a detective has one of two purposes: 1) he is a detective and wants to get his info out before we incorrectly lynch him, or 2) he's mafia and wants to throw us off the scent. Since this whole game is really about bluffing, it's a tough choice.
However, giving him one more night can't really hurt. If we let him live and the doctor chooses to save him tonight, we get at least one more piece of info. If he's mafia, we'll know in a couple days because he won't have been killed. The mafia will want to kill him as soon as they can because every day he's alive, he'll be giving out more info that roots them out.
So I'm not going to vote for Jason. Unfortunately, I don't really have any other suspicions. I was thinking maybe Charlie, because he's wily, but if Jason is a detective, he's said Charlie is innocent.
I don't really think Kari is mafia, but we do need a consensus, or our turn is wasted. And she has the most votes. So...

If Kari is mafia I have my suspicions about:
Hillary, Sarah, and Shirley--I believe atleast one of those three have to be mafia if Kari turns out to be the same. I have no proof of this, but from reading their comments I have a strong hunch. A "detective hunch". If Kari is not mafia, I'm afraid I'm not much help--I hope our town survives this mafia!
If I do survive, I hope I can find out who one of the mafia members are before it's too late...I'll do my best as "The 'Ole Sooty Detective." It's been a pleasure serving as your law enforcement--hope to talk to you in the morning!

Well, I'm glad that there are enough votes to convict and that I won't have to add mine in order to do it. I'd hate to have to kill my own sister. I would like to say that I believe Jason and so I'm going to unvote him, but I don't know who to vote for instead. I think I'll go back to Sarah, my original vote.

Wanted to help with the majority but I am still suspicious of Jason. Why would he out himself as a detective knowing the mafia will possibly kill him, unless he is the mafia and knows he is safe?
