DAY 1: a miraculous save
After an unusually long night, the town met on the beach. After a quick game of volleyball in the white sand, they got down to business.
The mayor thought it her duty to let everyone know the mafia were actively attempting to kill the townspeople. She saw a trap that was set last night, but the attempt was thwarted by one of the doctors. They mayor didn't know who the trap was sent for, only that somebody owed his or her life to the magnificent skills of a most intelligent doctor.
At about noon the townspeople all went for a dip in the ocean, and that's when the discussion began...
It is now DAY until Monday at midnight. For this game, I have chosen not to reveal the names of people who are saved by the doctor(s). I think this will give the mafia an extra advantage that they desperately need. Also, because there are two doctors, they won't know which one did the saving and everyone could potentially be saved twice--once by one doctor and then by the other one.

Well that is a different twist, Jana. That makes it even harder for us to vote and lynch someone. Here we go again, having to pick someone totally out of the dark! We will probably end up killing someone innocent again, like we did to Jimmy last game. I just want to appologize ahead of time if that happens again. I think I'll wait a little while to see if anyone has any opionins before I start to speculate.
I don't like this new rule. How can we try to eliminate anyone if we don't get any clue as to whether they are just towns people or have a role. I think with there being an extra mafia, they already have an added advantage.
There are clues, this just puts more pressure on the detectives to convince y'all of what they know.
well, i certainly dont know who it is, but i do believe that we should stay away from what we did to jimmy (rip)... i'd really like to get a mafia today, but we have no clues, save the comments posted here, so ill hold off until more comments are posted; then ill look for comments similar to those made by kari, sarah, and deena; i think our previous experience will really help us in this game
Ahh the game I have heard so much about. I have read the previous game and have come to the decision that Hillary is not mafia and neither is mom (Shirley), because they do not seem devious enough to post so much like a townie if they were mafia. Food for thought. Pip Pip Cheerio!

I don't know that I like the new rules either-plus, where's the story and the intrigue? Like Robabins and the cobra and the ninja skills of the doctor. Maybe you were pressed for time. But I want to say beforehand that I am going on vacation next week and am a little busy this weekend preparing for it-so don't think it suspicious if I don't write lots...I will still cast a vote, but probably not until the end of the "day"-especially with this first day because there really aren't any clues. But something to think about is the sex of the mafia members...not that there are four, what are the possible combinations? Can we have all of one gender like last time? What is most probable? (and amen about spell check, cortney-i need it too)

As a former mafia, I am wondering if Hillary is trying to act innocent with her "apology" but it is still too early to condemn anyone to the gallows (or wolves, or fire, etc). As someone who has left the dark side I will be watching you all very closely......

I apologize about the boring story. I've been pretty sick this weekend (another round of the stomach flu, I think) and really didn't have the energy to be terribly creative.
And I'm sorry not many of you like the new rules, I think it will make it that much more difficult and interesting.

Let me try to interpret what I think MR. FOREHEAD(it is that big in real life) was trying to say since I am married to the FOREHEAD. He thinks that by Hillary and Shirley's post earlier today that they appear to be townies and he doesn't think that they would be so devious that they would appear to be something that they aren't. But my thinking is that no one is ever what they seem. I apologize to Aunt Shirley about being out to get you last game. It is a good thing the majority didn't believe me or the mafia may have won the game. I am holding my judgement until later but I believe that the mafia could be all of my family. There is four of them playing and they are all EVIL!!!!!!!!

Good point, Sarah. If Eric caught onto Kari last game, then maybe she is trying to get him out of the way right off the bat in order to keep herself safer this time. Besides, it's still really hard to tell who to vote for now anyway. Eric was the doctor last time. Maybe we should be giving him credit for that this time around. I'm interested to know why he or some of the others haven't posted yet. Are they just that busy or what? And if we convict someone just because he hasn't posted yet we may pull another Jimmy - after all that was one of the reasons we convicted him last time. I'm still a little hesitant to vote just yet, but I may have to go along with the majority so we don't waste our turn.
FOR THE MOTHERS-
This has nothing to do with the game-but since so many moms are playing, I have a question:
How are you supposed to know when your baby is sick or in pain so you can give them baby Tylenol? Noah was immunized last Wednesday and our doctor told us to give him some even if he got fussy that day-and we did and it worked. But these days after he's been just cranky and we're not sure what is going on-if anything...esp. b/c he can't tell us. Any suggestions? Thanks!

For Kari: we give our kids medicine to keep them quit, and it hasn't hurt them yet, except for cayden who keeps running into walls on purpose to get more. Kids will be kids.

Mr. Forehead is just kidding about all the time and the walls, but we do give the kids Tylenol when they get cranky and there seems to be no reason for it. It could be anything but I think that as long as you are cautious of when you give it and don't do it all the time. You and Noah will probably be better off if he is happy and possibly asleep.

And to answer your question, Kari, about the Tylenol. It won't hurt Noah to give him some medicine even if he isn't sick or hurt. Chances are that you may only need to give him one dose and that may cure the fussiness. I usually don't give my kids medicine unless they have a fever or I know they are hurt (like a swollen finger or immunization time). That's been my rule of thumb. But Angela is right, it may make you and Noah just feel better to give him a dose or two. If he doesn't have a fever, he may be fussy because of something else though, like gas or upset stomach. It really is hard to know with newborns sometimes. Sorry there isn't a save all answer.

Have you tried the gas medicine? Maybe he just has an upset stomach. Dylan had gas all the time when I nursed him. We talked to our dr and he said that the gas medicine is fine to give him everytime he eats and before bed. You could try that before the tylenol if you are worried about the tylenol. The medicine is simethicone(?) it is like Gas-X for babies. Also HILLARY there is a website that I think you might like. LDSquietbooks.com. Our relief society did them and they are great.

And I would try the gas stuff first. Luckily Ethan was a very content baby and the only time he really got upset was when he was hungry, or had gas. but as soon as we gave him the gas reliever he was much happier
Addie had colic and the only thing that helped, albeit it didn't help much, were the gas drops. We bought the cheap brand, I think they were $3 or $4 per bottle and lasted quite a while. I REALLY REALLY hope Noah doesn't get colic, though, it was HORRIBLE.
Oh, and the mafia are HORRIBLE too...(just trying to tie that in).
The walmart brand worked just as well for all of our kids. We still give it to Cayden when he eats too much. Usually after a Sunday dinner at Grandma Terrie's Family Diner. It is right next to Grandpa Karl's Grill.

I guess I 'm going to be the victim of the "town" mafia. Everyone says that I'm suspicious but no one has given any reason as to why. Just because I have to go to work and support my family and can't spend every waking moment at a computer doesn't make me suspicious, it makes me a good husband/father.
If all you base your lynching on is that I don't post enough then we all need to change our votes to Josh or Matthew because they haven't posted yet and I posted before they did.

Hey everybody...sorry for not posting...anything. To be honest, I didn't think that the game had begun. But, it had. And I seem to be really close to death. Someone suggested to me that I change the "times" of the days from midnight to some time in the morning because I usually don't post until the morning anyway. I won't do that because I like being able to get up in the morning and being able to post the results as soon as I get a chance, whether it's at 6 or 9 a.m., without having to wait for the deadline to arrive. I don't want to have to schedule my morning around mafia, I'm sorry.
Why am I telling you this, you ask? To let you know I will still consider comments made after midnight, but before I post for the day, as valid. Anything after that time, however, is just too bad.
I realize this cuts each day a couple hours short, but I figure nobody is going to be commenting or emailing me earlier than 9ish anyhow (well, any SANE person won't be).

Yes, that's correct, it would count after midnight if I didn't post right at midnight (which I never will do as I'm usually in bed by 11). I just say midnight so I'm not set to a particular time in the morning. But your time would actually be 11 because you are one hour behind me and my family is one hour ahead. See on the time on the comments? I have that set up as Central Time to help with the time difference.
She only voted for me because I was "a popular vote". I don't think she has any other reason to vote for me except my non-blogging status...which has ended

I think that Jay and Josh are working together. Jay said he changed his vote for me because it would have been easier to kill me. Before Josh voted the tally was 6 for Josh and 5 for me. So Josh's vote for me made it 6 for both of us. It seems strange that he would change his vote only after Josh came in.
So, either don't vote for me or count on Deena and Matt to do the smart thing

Josh, what I said about Jay wasn't slander. It was an educated guess about whom I believe to be mafia. That is a lot more than I can say for the people who have voted for me. Forget the people who just said I'm just gonna go with the crowd and vote for Eric. This all started because someone said I looked suspicious and didn't have anything to back it up.
